Area Law Enforcement
Around fifty automobiles have been smeared with what appears to be blood from a person in the Germany's town of Hanau near Frankfurt, according to law enforcement.
Automobiles, walls and mailboxes were defaced, sometimes with swastikas, they reported in a statement.
Police state they were alerted late on Wednesday evening, when a individual observed that a automobile in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been covered with a reddish fluid.
The liquid had been placed in the form of a banned symbol, they added.
Officers then discovered multiple other marked automobiles and house walls in the surrounding area.
These symbols are banned in Germany under legislation prohibiting the public exhibition of Nazi symbols.
Police state preliminary tests show the liquid was most likely human bodily fluid.
"There is still no indication as to its source; investigators are presently not aware of any physical harm in relation with the incident," they stated.
City officials said they were working "to solve the case" and have asked to the community for details.
A senior political figure commented the vandalism made him stunned and had to be solved promptly.
"This event strikes at the core of Hanau and reopens the trauma of the extremist violent incident half a decade ago," he posted on social media, referring to the murder of nine people by a gunman aiming at residents of immigrant origin in 2020.
